The Battle Ship

Once alive and new,
A ship with a full crew;

From east to west,
They were on a quest;

She navigated "from sea to shining sea";
So that this land might be free.

Though true to the sound of battle cry,
She once again knew it was time to say good-bye;

She fought the battle brave and strong,
As her crew sang a soft little song.

In the distance she did not pause,
But continued to defend her cause;

Great splashes of water rose to her tattered deck,
Clearing away blood from a wounded man's neck.

The last cry "Stand your Ground!"
For now there was no sound.

The once alive and new,
Sank to the ocean blue.
