The Beach

I was swimming in the bay,
It was a lovely, sunny day...
I turned to see the sun,
Only to find that there was none.
The sun had gone, it disappeared-
I would never see it again, I feared.
I looked around to find that there
Was nothing left but a chair:
The beach, left bare.
I closed my eyes
Then turned to the skies,
I wished and hoped-
I so dreadfully hoped-
That this was all a joke.
My eyes now open wide,
I cried...
I cried for this to be over,
I cried for me to be free.
I wanted to find my family here at sea.
So I waited there for someone to find me.

This Poems Story

When my parents got divorced, my mom, sister, stepdad and I moved to California from England. My dad, still in England, decided to move to New Zealand to be with my grandparents. Ever since then, I have always had a feeling of loneliness; and I feel this poem expresses that in the best possible way it could. My poem is about a girl in the world, represented by a beach, being alone and wanting to have someone there with her.
