The Beast Within

There is a fire within me,
It releases without warning.
I tell it to stop
But it won't listen.
It just continues to scream, rip, and tear
Into the more tender spots,
It senses your fear and feeds,
Becoming stronger.
It'll send you down a trip
Full of guilt and pity.
It scorches your heart,
As well as mine,
Knowing this beast can't be tamed.
It has lingered in my body for as long as I remember,
Most recently being the strongest ever.
There is a fire within me,
And it won't extinguish.
