The Bird in the Cage Sings

Why does the bird in the cage sing?
Could it be a song about a wish to fly away spreading its wings?
So sweet the melody it sings, isn't it?
I know it sounds silly these things I say
But if it were to be the words it wouldn't be sweet anymore.
We smile when it sings; we cage it as if we own it.
Who are we to own it? Who gives the right?
On someone's misery we secretly smile, a disgusting nature we have.
The bird sings and sings until we kill or it dies,
Never again feeling the wind on its wings as it flies.
Are you happy? Happy crushing lives?
