The Blue Sky

Blue as can be
Goes as far as the eye can see
Has no beginning and no end
Covered with clouds on every bend

Birds chirp and fly up there
While people look up and stare
Airplanes are up there too
Up high in the blue

Trees reach with their fingers to touch
Wispy clouds and such
While balloons float up, up, and away
Dropped by children every day

The sun shines bright
With its brilliant light
Illuminating the sky
Up high

Sometimes it cries
Up from the skies
Like tears on our faces
Rain pours, leaving traces

The moon shines
The dark night pines
For the oh so blue
Sky to come anew

This Poems Story

My name is Victoria Dinov and I'm thirteen years old. I live in San Diego, California, with my mom and dad. My poem, "The Blue Sky," was inspired, hence the title, by the sky. I've always been fascinated with the sky. Why is it blue? I wrote this poem on a road trip. I was having a major "writer's block" when I decided to go to my beloved topic, the sky. While I was writing, the words seemed to flow out of me. In about ten minutes, I had my complete poem, "The Blue Sky."
