The Book of Life
The book of life goes quickly by, the pages ever turning,
our future ever changing; our minds forever learning.
As science keeps advancing, our knowledge keeps expanding.
I say---turn back the pages!
Go back to days of yesteryear, when people had the time to care.
The days of five-cent ice cream cones
When kids were never left alone.
The days when we were satisfied,
And not embarrassed if we cried.
Turn back the pages!
When families were the living dream, when marriage was forever.
When people worked to build a life of happiness together.
When riches were beyond our dreams, but they so little mattered,
As long as we had loving hearts, our dreams were never tattered.
The pages of our life go by, regardless of our wealth;
and money cannot turn it back, nor can it buy good health,
I say enjoy life every day, for no one knows just when,
The book of life will close for good and bear the words
