The Boy I’ll Never See

When they all mourn the loss of a girl,
The loss of a daughter,
The loss of a sister,
The loss of a mother,
Or niece

I'll mourn for you.
Little boy I'll never see,

I will not forget either of you,
Little girl, I never hated you.
Little boy, I am sorry you didn't get to grow.
You are happy as a young man,
Aren't you?

I may mourn the fact you didn't get to live as a child,
But, I rejoice in the fact that you live now.

You and I are the same:
Two people who didn't get to grow as they wanted.
I love you, little boy,
And I hope you love me, your older self, as well.
