The Brick Wall

Brick by brick, I'm building this wall;
It can't be demolished..it's getting so tall..

It surrounds me in solitude, I can no longer see;
All the beauty or ugly, of the world around me.

Alone with my thoughts, to deal with the pain;
It's a one woman fortress, and here I'll remain.

Passersby seem curious, keep trying to peep;
Up over the top, but my moat is too deep

I know how it seems, like a defensive tool;
But its purpose is not to protect me - but you....

So these bricks will stack higher,
It's the best gift I can give;
To contain the heat of the fire
In this hell where I live.....
