The Cactus Plant

The Cactus Plant

Last time I walked through the desert
The cactus plant asked me why there was no vegetation where he roamed
I told them I did not know but I would search for the answer so
I walked to the desert stream for surely he would tell me but he did not know
So I searched and roamed
Until I found the desert rock and he said “for surely you mock
Me who has been here since the beginning of time
I find this question as that of a nursery rhyme.”
“The sun shines above us so because he has nowhere else to go.”
With this answer in mind I walk to the cactus plant that shined
I told him it was alright, that knowledge was gathered through time
He said he already knew the question that he asked me to seek
As that was the answer had really been he wanted to see if I was his friend.
