The Call of the Ocean

The ocean speaks to me
It calls my name
It cries out to me
But I am caught
In a fear of drowning
A fear of allowing water
To fill my lungs
And slowly make me part of it
Over-dramatic waves
Freeze time and freeze my bones
Control the sands
And control the creatures inside it
Yet, deep in my heart
It still calls for me
A still, small voice
Calls for me from the waves
Do I dare
Step into the raging waters?
Do I dare
Become one with the ocean?
Do I dare
Obey the still small voice
With every part of my mind
Telling me no
I with one foot in front of the other
Allow my bones
To step into the ocean
