The Calm Before the Storm
A dark monster lingers in my mind,
I shut my eyes and I focus on the good.
I struggle to keep you from driving me insane,
Because I know you very well could.
My life is an ongoing struggle,
I clench my teeth and hold in the agony.
The frustration, it eats away at the peace I once had.
Screams pierce through my ears and travel to my core;
The core where I keep the most disturbing and painful memories.
My neglected soul weeps for kindness and mercy;
I fight off the pain, but I cannot control this.
I try to hold in these tears but what for?
I cannot hide behind a mask anymore.
