The Captain

You were bad news, said the moon
But like the stars,
I couldn’t help but fall for you.
Waves clawed into the sand
The tide pushed me inland
Life threw hurricanes and hailstorms
Just to keep me off of your shores
But I was young and I was selfish
And you learned to take advantage
You are a sea of unpredictability
Instantaneous improbability
You are the waves
And I am the captain of my boat
I'll build rafts and
teach myself to float
Just to let you know
I'll never sink below
Ever. Again.
