The City Woods

It's hard to find nature
And easy to lose it

To find a place
Where the river flows,
Birds sing,
And wolves howl

Bright nights
Replaced by city lights

Bird songs by
Broadway

And wolf howls by
Taxi horns honking

No longer is there
A creek
A slow trickle of water
Surrounded by grass

No longer is there
A star in the sky
To wish upon, or
To guide a sailor

Our sewers are our creeks
And skyscrapers our stars
