The Claws of the Dragon

You flew over the hill
That day long ago,
And forever my world was changed.

The people all ran
While the village did burn
As night fell slowly again.

Out of nowhere you came,
And the earth seemed to say,
"Stop, you child of fire!"

But stop you did not,
And the earth which you seared
Still hasn't been healed to this day.

Many lives you did end,
And my heart, which you stole,
Years later has not been returned.

Life just isn't worth living
When one's unfortunate soul,
Is trapped in the claws of a dragon.

This Poems Story

I am a high schooler from Texas and I love Latin, reading, and writing. I am also working toward my dream of becoming a published novelist, so watch the bookshelves! This particular poem was inspired by my love of dragons and my fascination with medieval lore. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this, my first published work.
