The Comprehensive Tempest

The maelstrom forever turns and turns
Lighthouses darken, buildings crumble down
Bright and flaring the fire burns and burns
But foundations still remain deep and sound

If those crack, lava must like acid melt
Spewed from the depths, from the crash of bases
While poison now pervades and ash is dealt
So see there is no such thing as stasis

But what if the maelstrom can be guided?
If fire strengthens, and smelts foreign rock
While twisting scraps make stronger building blocks
Old is bolstered, and with new united

New fragments fill the many chinks and cracks
Inside the bell towers and chimney stacks
By storm and fire they instead renew
Taller and annealed by determined true
