The Copper Lady

I look upon the Copper Lady,
Who stands on the pedestal of citizens.
She looks out on the misty harbor,
Welcoming all those who come to her in grief.

Though a stranger, she welcomes me home;
Her light guides me out of the darkness of pain.
I lay down all I own at her feet,
But will she be able to carry my fears?

Refuge to those who yearn to breathe free,
She offers courage to all the faint of heart.
Hope breaks the mist with the rising sun;
This step will carry me to a bright, new world.

I look upon the Copper Lady,
Who stands on the pedestal of all citizens
