The Dance

The first notes begin, eyes lock and the question
Would you like to dance?
Others eyes watch as the room fades away for the two
Sensual notes swirl in the air, melting on skin and soul
The rhythm shifts and flows under foot measuring time
Swirling and turning the dancers are alone in the crowd
The melody speaks of love and bodies embracing
The dancers close distance, become one, breath as one
He guides, music and heartbeat burning passion through the embrace
She gasps and clenches his shoulder. She presses into him
This is their place, their time, their souls
Bathed in the melting snow of swirling music
Held on the sands of time flowing underfoot
The truth burns within them in this moment
Awkward words and actions are gone
Mistakes and missteps no longer exist
As cold snow and hot sand swirl inside this little world
Everything is as it should be

Time has flowed away, the music stops, and the dancers part
Though the world of the dance is only a moment away she leaves
His hope is that the truth of intertwined hearts will prevail
The world of the dance is always close at hand for these two
It takes only a song to bring two hearts into one soul
The first notes begin, eyes lock and the question
Would you like to dance?
