The Dark Sun

The sun
It is pointless if everyone is blind
Yet, it shines so bright
It acts as a blanket
It covers the pure and cradles the weak
But it fears us

Boom!
Another bomb shakes the earth
Crash!
Another family dies at the hand of a drunk driver
Bang!
Another gun kills an innocent life
Phew!
Another criminal gets away with murder

Why shouldn't the sun fear us?
I fear us

It sees what we can't
It dreads rising every morning just to shine down on hell
It covers the damned and cradles the ignorant
No one is innocent in the eyes of the sun
