The Death of Love

Love is a word now frequently used
Due to its loss of weight.
The word was warped and harshly abused
Like the panels of an old wood gate.

When we were young the word was such
A very powerful thing.
Telling someone with a sweet touch
Of love made your heart pound and sing.

Now it's tossed carelessly around
And used for everything people see.
It's nothing more than just a sound,
Which is a terrible tragedy.

It seems as though true love is dead,
But maybe that's not so.
For when you get someone in your head,
Their gaze still make your heart glow.
