The Defeated Victor
The enemy was sprawled across a field dyed with blood
Their eyes almost lifeless and bodies entrenched in mud
“Pierce the heads and let no one survive!”, cried out the commander
Without haste, the soldier performed his duty and impaled the fallen
When the final warrior’s spirit had risen to the gates of heaven, the solider declared to his commander:
“I have killed the defenseless and it is now and forever stained in my memory.”
The commander then replied, “Soldier, your order was the devil’s price for absolute victory.”
