The Difference

An old man sits in the rain.
Water drips down his nose.
Dripping aimlessly.
Alone in the night.
Chilled to the bone.

Alone, because no passerby
Decided to make a difference.

Perhaps they thought about it.
He doesn’t know for sure.
More likely they did.
But thought some other passerby would help.

But every one of us
is just that.
A passerby.
Passing by
All the people who need us most.
Never ready to help,
Never ready to be the change.

Not powerful enough to make a difference?
You just did.
It just wasn’t for the better.
