The Doomed Youth
So they're stropping about and crying,
And yelling at the people who care,
Because there are so many emotions, all mixed up inside,
And to know how to express it is rare.
You expect them to know what you didn't,
Back when you were their age,
You've tried telling it to them, yelling it at them,
But lets face it, you're not on the same page.
Your forms of communication aren't working,
And you're at a loss at how to go on,
And you worry and you fear for them,
For what will happen to them when you're gone?
But what you forget is they are you,
They are you from decades before,
And maybe that would scare you once,
Once, not anymore.
Because this stage won't last forever,
Eventually they'll have to learn the truth,
And it is this fact, and nothing else,
That makes them the doomed youth.
