The Dreamer

what does it take
to make a dream come true
what is the difference
between me and you
was it our destiny
from our mother's womb
for you to soar among the stars
and me to dwell among the tombs
or was the first step
mine to take
I was only taught how
how to make mud cakes
in the years gone by
I've seen so many rise
but none of my dreams
have I realized
fate has not been kind
hard work never paid off
I've always lived in the basement
only my imagination enters the loft
but my life is not over
my dreams I still hold dear
praying that one day a messenger
from the DREAM merchant will come
shouting come down to the pier my friend
you ship is about to come in
