The Dust of Dreams

I must wait for sleep to find me, to find some rest,
while the sun retreats to her dwelling far west.
Like always, he will not find me 'til late in the night
until my eyes see the first rays of early morning light;
then, in the land of dreams, I become a welcomed guest.
In that other plane, never does one argue or protest
with the lack of worry and the removal of stress.
But before I can voyage there to find great insight,
I must wait for sleep to find me.
A sleeplessness waits each night that I cannot contest,
delaying me from gazing upon the end to my quest.
The guardians of the realm are almost in my sight,
but the rage of the Sandman I once did incite;
since from his grasp no magic dust can I easily wrest,
I must wait for sleep to find me.
