The Dylan Thomas Villanelle

If Dylan Thomas wrote a song for me,
'Twould be whiskey shots and lots of shouting,
In three, or five, or six part harmony.

And I would live in immortality
And there would be no more room for doubting,
If Dylan Thomas wrote a song for me.

Perhaps I'd go to Swansea by the sea,
Get drunk, and throw my hat into the ring,
In three, or five, or six part harmony.

Perhaps he'd judge me, then admonish me
To brush up on my tortured poet thing.
If Dylan Thomas wrote a song for me

I would be brash, go down in infamy
As his new partner in philandering,
In three, or five, or six part harmony.

Maybe I'd get greedy and charge a fee
For making sad mountains out of nothing,
If Dylan Thomas wrote a song for me,
In three, or five, or six part harmony.
