The Edge of Darkness

She lived at the edge of darkness,
Where the sun met the moon.
Waiting for a moment to close her doors,
Where her monsters could run free.

Her heart ached with the sadness of the setting sun,
Chaos streaming down her face.
Becoming a battleground to her thoughts,
defiling her very existence.

Yet, the pain of tomorrow still tightens its ropes,
Slithering up her arms and around her neck.
Sinking its teeth in and draining her last hope,
Allowing the fear to burrow under her skin.

There was a darkness inside of her as she
willingly drank the poison she was served.
She ached for empty promises meant to be broken,
Lying alone to absorb the toxins in her mind.
