The Enemy

How much blood should we shed?
Till the rivers run red?
How much more can you take
Before your soul starts to break?
Before the insides come out
In the most unhelpful shout
A yell turns into a fight
A fight turns into a flight
Run all you can
Until you just want daylight
Put your finger on the gun
You can't run from this one
You know escape ain't a choice
This time use your voice
This time use your gun,
Your fists, all your wits
No time to back down
The enemy's around
You look left, you look right
You know it's coming nearer
The sight you know,
It couldn't be any clearer
And then, you realize,
The greatest enemy you have,
Is staring back
In the mirror
