The Exaltation of a Lark

Though I wallow with dabblers as though I'm soaring with eagles,
Because my God is with me there before I touch my beak to the waters,
And if I eat with buzzards and vultures it seems as if I eat with,
graced swans and handsome peacocks,
Because my Jesus eats with me,
I am a small and insignificant bird with plumage gray and dun,
But the Holy Spirit abides in me and makes of me a bird of paradise,
I am but a little lark with a gentle, lilting song,
But the Holy Trinity makes of me an Exaltation Lark!
