The Fallen Tree

You can't own me,
You can have me,
My heart does not belong to you,
It belongs to the world around me,
To the fallen tree,
To the flightless bird,
To anything in need,
I am as dependable as the wind,
Circling the world in my own time,
You can't tame me,
You can't Love me,
At least not now,
But you can find me,
Not in a castle,
Not in a meadow,
Not even in the arms of another,
But rather on the branch of the fallen tree,
Never truly to be awakened by anything but life.
