The Family Tree

The leaves fell family tree
And like dandelions withered
The children suffered and the babies cried
The fathers betrayed as the mothers prayed
Bent and broken the tree as bent and broken as me
But what you did not see was
That the tree was not broken it was growing
Each branch with its differently colored leaves
And differently decorated leaves that hung jewels
Trust was the most precious jewel
Leaves of trust that shown above all
There was leaves on the ground near the tree
Leaves of trust
That cut like diamonds and hurt like broken hearts
There was angels that shown
And filled the darkness that love left when love left
Little ornaments that decorated the tree
As beautiful lies decorate our lives
There was talk of love and happiness
but no evidence that had relevance
