The Final Battle

The constant battle between life and death
To succumb or prevail is your own choice

To keep moving or take your final breath
Scream out hoping others hear your own voice

To pray for God to grant you safe passage
Stay awake just enough to be alive

The birds around me give me a message
To give up so I will no longer thrive

The light fades to just a tiny sliver
I think of back home to those that I love

I shut my eyes and begin to shiver
My eyes open to the heavens above

The great father and son greet me with joy
I look and see that I am a young boy
