The Last Task
Everything is going according to plan.
The letters are sealed—
ink dried into quiet goodbyes,
stacked neatly in places
they’re meant to be found.
Teachers receive their careful lines,
formal, distant,
as if absence can be explained
in proper tone.
You cancelled your phone service,
you wont be needing it anymore,
The cat is fed,
the trees drink deeply,
roots and fur unaware
of endings.
Everything is in order.
You reach for the glass,
water trembling in your hand,
Your lips touch the rim,
But you hesitate,
then swallow.
Silence.

The Girl Across From You

Hi! I really enjoyed your poetry. I think poems with beautiful visuals or illustrations are doing really well online these days and often reach a much wider audience. Even with a small investment, adding artwork to your poems can make them more engaging and shareable. I'm a commission-based artist, and I've been creating custom artwork for about 3 years. I'd love to help bring your poems to life with visuals if you're ever interested. You can reach me anytime via em@il: contact.lilaclines@gm@il.com Ig: _lilac_lines_ I'd be happy to chat!
