The Final Goodbye

She held her hand until the end.
The world was gone,
She lost her friend.
She smiled again,
Hiding her fears.
Goodbyes were murmured,
While fighting back tears.
She looked at her mother,
Dwelling on the the new grief.
The love may be forever,
But the pain is not brief.
