The Flowing; Ode to a Kidney Sto
There's knowing in the flowing
This I've come to see
As my husband stands o'er the toilet
Trying to go pee.
I noticed subtle changes
It wasn't just a dream
Now there's stops and starts and tinkles
That's replaced that nighttime steady stream.
With mention of this issue
Which he ordered to dismiss,
What could I know of nighttime jaunts
For need to take a piss?
And now I sit beside him
As he suffers in distress
His flowing has been altered
By kidney stone largesse.
Through all these years together
I can remember his past pleas
"Will you stop breakin' my stones,
Will ya, just stop, please?"
Yes, there's knowing in the flowing
A wish for his relief I make
And isn't it ironic
He finally has a stone I can't break!
