The Gaps In-between

No matter how firmly
She held her hands and fingers together,
The drops would slowly drain
Through the gaps in-between.

No matter how softly
She held him at night,
Under the roof that brought them together,
His true colors would slowly seep
Through the gaps in-between.

No matter how hard she held
The tears back and eyelids together,
Under the roof that tore them apart,
Her heart would slowly pour
Through the gaps in-between.

No matter how firmly
She held her hands and fingers together,
Life would slowly slip
Through the gaps in-between.
