The Gift of Motherhood

You only held us for a short while
the smiles and goofy looks we gave you
Your arms so warm
you thought god had blessed you with a gift so small and fragile
to begin
how time passed so short for a while
those birthday gifts and happy smiles
you thought god had blessed me with a child
those moments with tears and hugs
the values and lessons you taught
how precious a kiss was
those tears you shed out of happiness and love
the devotion you had to show you knew how to say no
time had now you thought passed so fast
wanting to never let go of a hand
your heart and soul years of laughter and sadness
those precious memories of special lessons you
thought we'd forget but, know we will never outgrow
the time we spent for the gift god gave you was not us but,
he'd given us you
