The Green Light

I sit in silence,
Staring into the darkness.
I wait for something.
I wait for IT.

A faint buzzing sound.
There it is.
The green light.
That horrible green light.

It illuminates for just a second,
Then it is gone.
It comes back,
Taunting me with its brief comings and goings.

It mocks me.
It knows.
It knows what it does to me.
And yet, *flash* *flash* goes the green light.

I pray for it to stop,
For it to go away.
But it does no such thing.
It stays, and tortures me with every blink.

I no longer have a choice.
I pick up the black device,
Only to see what I most feared.
The green light has once again brought me pain.

The green light sees.
The green light knows.
The green light shows no remorse,
Only the green illumination of my worst fear.
