The Hateful Farmer

The Hateful Farmer

Once there was a farmer
Whose heart was filled with hate
He loved to light small fires
Then sit in shadows and wait
The man next door would see the fires
And snuff them out each day.
Then confront the hateful farmer
And this is what he’d say,”
Why do you light these harmful fires
Can’t you see they’re bad
If you let these fires burn
You’ll lose everything you had.
The farmer’s heart was filled with hate
And loved the stress he made
He continued to light those fires
While the neighbor knelt and prayed.
How many times do I forgive this man
I have turned the other cheek
I let him walk all over me
And now he thinks I’m weak
The Lord said ,” Please forgive him
But let his fires burn
Keep your distance from his flames
They are none of your concern
I will fill his bushels full of ash
No harvest will he own
You tried your best
But now you rest
He will reap what he has sown.
