The Heart Of My Best Friend
For each and every single moment
Would bring me nothing but toil and torment
If from now and through the rest of my life
I do as I do and walk away from this strife.
You gave me slight hope at our eyes first glance,
I was shy and thought quietly, "I don't stand a chance."
But then time and time and again
You proved to me that our paths wouldn't end.
And perhaps we teased and fought and bickered,
Like a candle our flame for each other would flicker.
But never failing or dying out
For you know I can't stand to see you sad and about.
My darling dearest, as I hide with this mask
I take it off to show you the true me, a hard task.
A boy with much to learn and to grow.
A boy, not a man with a heart he must sew.
I speak not of mine the heart I must mend,
It's that of a sister, a daughter, an actress, a scholar,
It is The Heart of My Best Friend.
