The House that Knew

There is a house that overlooks the village;
It sees the sins that occur within.

It knows the cries of children;
It hears the school bells ring.
It feels the palpable excitement,
It smells the blood from cuts that sting.

The house knows the love between spouses;
The peals of laughter and joy.
The tinkling of voices like sweet melodies,
The shouts and abuse that destroy.

There's still a house in that village.
It's seen the sins within.
It saw the creation of love and joy;
I saw the end by hatred and sin.
