The Inevitable Onset of Sleep

A dizzying sense of disorientation
Eyes open and close seeing
Nothing.
A flash of light, awakens briefly, but
Eyelids droop.
A blanket of warmth
Groggy obliviousness
Head falls, then
Rises.
Must stay awake.
A film rolling from the screen
Voices saying.
What?
Speaking not hearing.
First scene:
Eyes close,
Last scene:
Succumb to sleep,
Darkness.
