The Inside of Green

The inside of green is illuminated:
Highlighted and holy,
Blessed by the ancient gods
And treated as the greatest symbol of existence.

Can you wake up from your darkness--
Your industrialized womb of
Poverty and smog--
And leave the cold streets you know best?

Take another step through the forest--
Until you find yourself in the heart of
The inside of green,
So fluorescent in the light,
And so treasured by the living.

Now stop and sit in this maze of Nature.
And in that crowded, simultaneous occupation of life,
Closely observe the other moving, living creatures
Who dance to a similar beat.

Watch as Time adds weight to
Your once bright pigment.
And experience a blended manipulation of
Light and dark: chiaroscuro.
Absorb the light until you slowly sink asleep,
Contemplating the marvel that is
The inside of green.
