The Iron Bars

Screams and chains
The things that blind eyes can sense
Shrouded in darkness
Deafened through pain

The lonely man screams again
For his life, for his home
For the one who is now long gone

The chains shatter
The darkness fades
As his hand is once more raised
The screams end, silence reigns
As his world is once more razed
Not by fire, not by death
By with the burning passion of regret
Of those who fought, who won and lost
Of those who bled and died further on

A field of fire, a field of hope
A land born from the loss of all
A bright new future
A long-lost past
Hold the man hostage
Through his own hands
