The King of Green

There once was a king all dressed up in green,
and lived in a castle, the biggest you've seen.

Then one clear day, a man came to say,
that all of his treasures he'd soon have to pay.

The king payed no heed and sent him away,
but sooner than later things shifted astray.

The peasants wanted more, the queen became needy,
Knights took gold, and even the fish had turned greedy.

The king lost it all, even his dress of green,
and visited the man, to whom he was rather quite mean.

"How could you do this?", cried the angry king,
"I suffer, I'm poor, yet the whole world shall sing!"

The man said nothing, but smiled outright,
even with the king using all of his might.

"Why would you vex me with this curse so obscene?"
The man shortly answered,
"I simply hate green."
