The Life I Knew

I don't matter much now
But, in the old days
I was smiled at by the children,
they admired me.

I flew along the wind, it's rhythm
I would soar high above heights
They, the children would hold me
by the tail.

Wings, I had none
But I flew with the birds.

When I came down
My life I knew was over
Because there were fireworks, instead of me
Them who frightened me.

My dreams to reach above clouds
was just visionary, now, impossible
and so my life was over at that point
The life I knew as a kite.
