The Life of a Book

Isn't it funny how life is like a story
And how some lives are gory.
Some people who have friends,
Yet some who don't even get to begin.
With our books small in chapters
Yet we can still find laughter,
But what about the book that ends sad?
When all we cared about was what ended glad.
What about the character who died?
All because they listened to the whisper lies,
And what about the boy who fell?
Did we read what he had to tell?
What about the teen who would fly?
Did we care at all she would cry?
We calm these things but we don't listen,
Some people just smile and pretend.
So what about the book that is you?
Do you hope people will read through?

This Poems Story

My name is Jamie Jenkins. I am a junior at School of Arts and Enterprise. I am the youngest out of five family members. I'd like to take a moment and thank my brother, Casey, for serving in the Marines. My thought process behind this poem began when I realized I didn't like sad endings in books. Then I began to think these books could relate to lives of other people that no one has met yet. And thus came to life my poem to bring forth my discovery.
