The Life That Used to Be
Your emotions are as free and chaotic as the ocean
That surrounds the area where I reside
Yet mine are as dry and expansive as the desert
Like the desert that is all around you
I was wronged by you
And you proved yourself untrue
I can't accept a person who insisted
On ignoring my attempts to save us
Who denied my love by being with someone else
Who tried to break the life I once had
With lies and still you lie to me
Is this is all for you?
To gain your own peace of mind?
Selfish acts of emotional conquest?
I have already given my all to you
For some reason I wasn't enough
Just leave me be; leave me alone
What once was cannot re-exist
Now it's your turn to feel
The pain and torture of silence
From the person who shared with you
The life that used to be
