The Light

The light turns on suddenly
Creating a shadow of fear
But the light breaks through forcefully
And speaks for all to hear

Its voice is old and wise
Delivering truth to all
Reaching for the strangled cries
Of those who seek to fall

They fall so far, away from the light
Withering in the dark
It pulls them down, with all its might
Leaving a gruesome mark

No matter how loud, the light may scream
It cannot convince the pack
No matter how wise, the light may seem
The dark always fights back
