The Light

To everyone else, it may be quiet
But who can escape the whispers in the mind?
The voices that come to torment us
In the middle of the night?

Perhaps we should feel lucky
But we don't
Instead we focus on our insecurities
The things we imagine, hostilities around every corner
And it seems that we are drowning, drowning in the darkness
Inside us, around us
Until it's impossible to breathe
Until it seems better to be dead than to breathe it in
Until we wish to be gone from this place of sorrow

But at the end
There is a light
One who will pick us up and save us
From the woes of this life
Someone who knows just how to put us back together
And bring us peace of mind
His name is Jesus: He'll never leave you behind.
