The Lily

I am a lily,afloat
on a clear green pond.
Languidly I drift amidst the
droning of dragonflies.
Content to lie
under a clear blue sky.

My leaves shine with a waxy hue.
My petals glisten with morning dew.
A small perfect creation
shimmering in the sunlight.
Content to lie
under an infinite blue sky.

A propeller turns,it grabs my stem!
The pond becomes a muddy brown.
Tattered and shredded, torn and beheaded,
Sorrowfully I lie.
Finally to sink slowly
beneath a cold blue sky.
